A Million Cool Things Weighs In: Great Summer Dates

A Million Cool Things is an online activity guide for the greater Seattle area.

The site offers suggestions about what to do in each neighborhood daily, permanent local attractions, and guides to each locality in the greater Puget Sound.  Though the site is not geared specifically to dating, the contributors are aficionados of all things local, so we asked the editor and some of her employees to weigh in on good dating ideas for Seattle singles.
What is the best outdoor date for a couple this summer?
A favorite for many is kayaking on Lake Washington and landing at Agua Verde for some good Mexican grub.  Agua Verde itself rents kayaks for paddling as do several other venues along the lake.  A Million Cool Things also recommended having a picnic at Golden Gardens in Ballard or kayaking on Lake Union Picnic.  You might also simply grab an ice cream and stroll along Alki Beach in West Seattle or explore the arboretum.
What's the best summer restaurant location or two that people should visit?
A Million Cool things said that one of their favorite places is Little Water Cantina in Eastlake, featuring delicious Mexican food and an outdoor eating area that overlooks Lake Union.  The outdoor tables seat guests family-style so you can meet new people too.  Another favorite is the Pink Door in Post Alley in Pike Place Market.  They have wonderful Italian food and outdoor seating with views.  You get the energetic vibe of the market with enough intimacy to be romantic.  Lastly, they suggested Cactus on Alki, with great food, people-watching, and that area's beautiful scenery.
What are some upcoming activities you would recommend for a couple?
Bumbershoot, Labor Day weekend (bumbershoot.org).  The nation's largest arts festival features an almost astounding array of music, food, comedy, theater, and more.
ZooTunes (schedule at www.zoo.org/zootunes).  This summer concert series attracts big name artists for small shows at reasonable prices.  And you help animals!
Concerts at Marymoor Park and Chateau Ste Michelle Winery (http://www.marymoorconcerts.com/ and http://www.ste-michelle.com/events/concerts).  More small-scale outdoor concerts for discerning daters.
Fremont Outdoor Movies (http://fremontoutdoormovies.com/).  From Anchorman to R. Kelly, see big screen favorites at a charming outdoor venue.
Summer at the Seattle Art Museum (http://seattleartmuseum.org/getout/default.asp).  Food trucks, drawing, zumba, and more.  Get outside and meet fellow art enthusiasts via this program.
What's the ONE out-of-the-box date idea that you'd suggest for people to do in Seattle?
Tom Douglas' Serious Pie restaurant offers a chance for 12 pizza lovers to come in and get a behind-the-scenes lesson on how to make pizza.  A Million Cool Things thinks this would be an awesome, one-of-a-kind date.  The classes are held regularly so you can schedule around your date's and your plans.
